RBC Senior Internship Experience Runs in the Family
Posted 04/20/2016 10:55AM

RBC alumni, family and friends are always known for sharing the legendary Casey spirit. As the years go by, more and more are exemplifying that spirit by generously sharing their professional expertise, talent and time with our current students by volunteering to be mentors as part of the RBC Thomas G. Labrecque Senior Experience Internship Program. In fact, one of those mentors takes it a step further by making the internship experience a family experience.

Lauren Plodwick, RBC ’08, participated in the program her senior year with an internship in the Marketing Department at Hugo Boss. As a result of her positive experience there, Lauren decided to double major in Marketing and Management at Lehigh University. She now works in New York City as a Team Lead in the Client Services Department at Sizmek, an ad management company specializing in digital advertising. This year she has also been mentoring her sister Alyssa who is now in the RBC Internship Program.

Lauren , happy her sister now has the same opportunity, says,  “my internship through the Thomas G. Labrecque Internship Program at RBC helped give me an introduction to the industry in which I am currently working.  I am hoping that by participating in this program as a mentor, I can provide that same benefit to another RBC senior.”  Her sister Alyssa thinks Lauren is off to a good start in providing that benefit.  She describes one of her first internship experiences saying, “I helped my sister create an ad campaign today that will appear in the NY Times.  Next week, I am excited to start beginning my own ad campaign.”

Since its inception in 2008, RBC’s highly successful Internship Program offers students the opportunity to work in a non-paid role, with an organization that parallels their career goals, providing them with valuable real life experiences.  Alyssa says the program offers “the invaluable chance to meet, grow, and foster relationships with an abundance of people from varying backgrounds,”  adding, “It is a thrill to gain real world experience from successful employers.  I am eager to learn more in the following weeks.”
