With the support of the RBC community, senior Kaitlin Van Lew has been preparing all year to receive her Sacraments of Initiation into the Catholic Church which will be held during the Easter Vigil. During her lunch periods Kaitlin has been attending Sacramental prep with her catechist and RBC Campus Ministry team member Mrs. DeStefano who explains, “to mark the various phases of her formation in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) we have celebrated a series of rites.”

In December, school chaplain Father Mark Nillo, Deacon Davis, Religion teacher Mrs. Flego and some of Kaitlin’s RBC friends celebrated her Rite of Acceptance in the school chapel.  In this rite, Kaitlin was presented with a Bible and a cross, and signed her name in the Book of Catechumens.

They gathered again in March, along with some teachers and students, to celebrate the Rite of Sending.  During this ceremony, Kaitlin's community and her catechist declared her ready to head to the Cathedral to be declared one of the "Elect" by our Diocesan Bishop, David O'Connell.  She signed her name in our parish Book of the Elect.

Finally, on March 5th Kaitlin, accompanied by her mother Kim Van Lew, her godfather and uncle Ernest Oversen, Mrs. DeStefano and Mrs. Flego, went to our Diocesan Cathedral in Trenton for the Rite of Election.  She, along with 195 other Sacramental candidates, were declared "elect" and ready to enter the final phase of prayer and preparation before receiving their Sacraments at Easter Vigil.

This past Sunday at 10:45 at Saint James Church Kaitlin celebrated her Third (and last) Scrutiny. The RBC community extends prayers and best wishes to Kaitlin as she continues her journey.

RBC Campus Minstry is also happy to share the news that on March 29th, senior Andrew Wierman received the Sacrament of Confirmation, supported by his teachers and RBC friends. With this ceremony he completed his Sacraments of Initiation into the Catholic Church.  Pictured below are Andrew, his sponsor Corrine Kylis, and his catechist Mrs. Ann-Marie DeStefano.  The RBC community extends prayers and best wishes to Andrew.
