Class of 2018 Participates Senior Retreat
Posted 10/16/2017 01:19PM

The senior class participated in their religious retreat on Friday at the San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch.  This oceanfront setting  offers the perfect backdrop for students to exercise their relationship with their Catholic faith.  The day began with breakfast followed by Eucharistic Adoration, and then moved through a series of speakers who exemplified the theme of the day, “Living the Good News Together.”

Speakers included Dave and Ann-Marie DeStefano, who have taught CCD together for 13 years and launched the St. James Parish Youth Group,“The God Squad,” and Sister Sharon Kelly, of the Sisters of Mercy, who has had various life experiences in the medical field as well as in secondary education.  Presently she ministers as Program Director at the Bayshore Senior Center in Keansburg. Also speaking were Rev. Msgr. Eugene Rebeck, who grew up in Perth Amboy and served multiple parishes all around New Jersey in his 52 year career in the ministry.  He often assists RBC with the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Students prepared questions for their speakers ahead of time and discussed the answers in a series of breakout groups afterwards.

The day ended with a Mass celebrated by RBC Chaplain, Father Ariel.  The message “Living the Good News Together” resounded throughout the day. San Alfonso is a tremendous partner in helping students go off campus and further explore their faith!
