Caseys Return to Celebrate Inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame
Posted 06/20/2016 01:46PM

On Saturday night a group of 250 RBC alumni, friends and families filled the RBC Vincent J. Eck Student Center to celebrate the Induction of the Red Bank Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame Inaugural Class. The Athletic Hall of Fame was instituted to celebrate those who have distinguished and brought honor to Red Bank Catholic through their athletic accomplishments.

The evening began with Mass in St. James Church celebrated by Pastor Monsignor Phillip Lowery.  Generations of Caseys then enjoyed reconnecting with old friends, teammates, coaches and teachers, most of whom were seeing the Eck Center and Tradition Hall for the first time since it was built in 2010 on the site of the former RBC Stirnweiss Athletic building.

Among the special guests that evening were two former RBC Principals, Sister Percy Lee Hart, currently the Principal of Union Catholic High School, and Sister Mary McAuley, along with 1977 graduate, Sister Lisa Gambacorto, who is the Principal of Mount St. Mary Academy in Watchung.

Following the cocktail reception was the Induction Ceremony where each member of the Inaugural Class was recognized.  Members of the 2016 Inaugural Class are: Monsignor Joseph T. Casey, Harry Flaherty (’80), Pat Kennedy (’70), Tom Lalli (’63), Coach Jack Rafter, Ann Woods Smith (’78), the 1954 Football Team, the 1976 Girls Track Team, David Bauer (’74), Coach Joe Bolger, Lonnie Burgess (’77), Bob Byron (’66), Peggy Egan Fallon (’79), Tom Farrell (’53), Amy Krilla Overcash (’01), Dennis Lynch (’59), George Saxemeyer (’54), Tom Seaman (’77), Tom Seitz (’74), the 1959-60 Football Teams, the 1974-77 Gymnastics Teams, the 1984-87 Girls Tennis Teams and Richard “Bucky” Moran (’55) who received the Msgr. Casey Award of Honor.

RBC Athletic Director Joe Montano said “It was great to welcome everyone back to campus and to honor such wonderful accomplishments. It was an evening of great spirit, energy and enthusiasm which has now begun a new Casey tradition.”
