This May, the RBC Dance Department and Dance Company will present their own version of the classic tales, Alice’s
Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. This full-length telling of the Lewis Carroll’s tales will be performed entirely through dance.
Alice (young dancer, Carmen Gemellaro) follows the White Rabbit (RBC senior Kimberly Galano) down a rabbit hole to
Wonderland. Wonderland itself is filled with fanciful characters that each add a bit of humor and dimension to the story. The Caterpillar (junior Aileen McNelis) teaches Alice how to cope with the difficult situations she encounters in Wonderland. She also meets the smiling Chesire Cat (senior Brenna Doherty) who can disappear and reappear at will.
Along her journey, Alice also encounters the Mad Hatter, March Hare and Dormouse (juniors Helen Ann Scheetz, Madeline Chiapperino and Caroline Maggs, respectively) and The Queen of Hearts (senior Emma McCann).
As she continues on through the Looking Glass, Alice meets Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (seniors Lizzie Dunigan and Coryn Gonis) and the White and Black Queens of Looking Glass Land (seniors Jaime Podracky and Liz Ladley).
Each character teaches Alice a little something about life and growing up which in the end prepares her for her battle against the Jaberwocky!
Come follow Alice on her Adventures as we Dance through Wonderland!
