THE INSTITUTION
Red Bank Catholic High School (RBC) has a population of 700 students in grades 9 thru 12 on our beautiful campus located in Red Bank, New Jersey. Monsignor Joseph Rosie, President Robert Abatemarco and Principal Karen Falco lead collaboratively in hiring, cultivating, and retaining a staff that embodies our commitment to the Catholic faith, traditional values and scholastic excellence. RBC also has 100 deeply committed, seasoned, and enthusiastic faculty and staff members who provide an innovative, creative and motivational environment.
THE POSITION
The school is seeking an experienced Advancement Director to lead and manage its fundraising, marketing, and communication efforts. This position reports directly to the President and the Board of Trustees and is responsible for strategically promoting the school’s brand, cultivating relationships with key constituent groups, and soliciting gifts that support the school’s mission to Catholic education. Additionally, the Director oversees all external communications ensuring that the school maintains a clear and consistent voice to its stakeholders.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Vision and Leadership
• Develop and execute long-range fundraising plans, in consultation with the Board of Trustees and the President and Principal, which are consistent with RBC’s mission.
• Provide overall direction, motivation, and guidance to Development staff; inspiring colleagues to work to their fullest potential, taking the lead role in the creation of a culture of excellence and accountability.
• Embody, manifest, and advocate Catholic faith and spirituality while promoting a culture of inclusion and diversity that promotes social/emotional wellness of all students and alumni.
Institutional Advancement / Board Relations
• Develop and administer the Annual Fund and other special fundraising campaigns, being actively engaged in building and maintaining relationships with donors and prospective donors participating in direct solicitation.
• Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with the Board and ensure open communication about the measurement of performance against stated milestones and goals.
• Represent Red Bank Catholic to the schools’ external constituencies, including individual donors, businesses, parishes and institutional partners, alumni, community organizations, and others to advance the RBC’s image and to raise funds.
• Create a highly visible profile and unambiguous identity to help RBC distinguish itself in the marketplace.
• Regularly report to and collaborate with the Board of Trustees on school operations and strategic and long-range fundraising plans, providing quarterly reports for the Board of Trustees and staff.
THE CANDIDATE
• The Director of Advancement must believe in the mission and vision of Catholic education and Red Bank Catholic High School. The successful candidate must have a proven track record of external relations and strategic leadership. The director must be a physical presence – visible and available to the students, families, alumni, and community. The Director of Advancement must be eager to engage with RBC’s many alumni and current constituents, and willing to work alongside the Board of Trustees and Endowment.
QUALIFICATIONS
• A practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church and a deep-rooted commitment to Catholic faith and values.
• Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible senior leadership experience in business, education, or nonprofit sector.
• Broad knowledge of overall operations of a successful and integrated fundraising organization.
• Proven experience in revenue generation and the ability and willingness to lead in fund development, including identification, cultivation, stewardship, and face-to-face capital campaign experience solicitation of donors.
• Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build, foster and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external constituencies including administrators, faculty, Board members, volunteer leaders, students, and donors.
• Ability to articulate a Catholic philosophy of education that recognizes the need for appropriate programs to serve a range of students’ needs, interests, and enrichment.
• Superior communication skills to express, orally and in writing, Red Bank Catholic’s mission, vision, and goals with clarity, passion, and persuasion.
• Willing and able to travel; must be available to attend events after work hours or on weekends as needed.
