The Red Bank Catholic Internship Program began in 2006.  This highly successful program, which runs in partnership with the RBC Thomas G. Labrecque Leadership Institute, provides opportunities for seniors to work in a non-paid role with an organization that parallels their career goals, providing them with valuable real life experiences.

One day a week for approximately six weeks the RBC interns visit the workplace for hands-on experience. Their teachers work with them to accommodate the time into their schedules so they may participate in the program while still meeting the requirements for their classes.

The program has proven to be mutually beneficial and rewarding for our students and their mentors alike. Some of our students have interned right here in Red Bank while others have enjoyed taking the train to New York City. Some have been offered summer jobs through their mentors; others have continued their internships during college breaks.  The practical experience and network of contacts they gain are invaluable.

The internship program has expanded over the years and placed approximately 50 seniors in internships last year. Student interest varies every year and our goal is to match their interests with appropriate internships. The program receives support from mentors in a wide variety of areas, including law enforcement, business, health care, fashion, architecture, engineering, education and other exciting fields.

This year the program is expanding. Throughout the school year RBC will host mentors and specialists in varying fields who will speak to our students and share their insights and experiences.  The students will be exposed to different areas of study and career paths for their consideration.

Interested students should contact Mrs. Booth for more information.

We also welcome anyone interested in being a mentor for the program to contact Mrs. Kathleen Booth at kbooth@redbankcatholic.com.
