The Maureen Hopkins Sutphen Memorial Scholarship

Maureen Hopkins Sutphen, RBC ’78, understood what it means to be a Casey.  She was a member of the elite undefeated 1974-1977 Red Bank Catholic gymnastics teams and returned to her alma mater as a coach to ensure that current Casey gymnasts understood the responsibility and honor that come with wearing the green and gold. Before each match, Coach Sutphen posted inspirational quotes in the locker room to inspire the team. One of the last ones she posted is a fitting tribute to all Caseys:

Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them—a desire, a dream, a vision.

Family and friends of Coach Sutphen established the Maureen Hopkins Sutphen Memorial Scholarship to provide tuition assistance to a Red Bank Catholic student who demonstrates need.
