Financial Aid Information
It is important to be aware of deadlines for financial aid applications. If you are applying Early Action or Early Decision, these deadlines may be in the fall. Contact the admissions office or financial aid office at the college to find out what information they need to make their decision regarding the financial package they will offer you.
Most colleges offer financial aid packages to bridge the gap between what families can afford and the total cost of school. Packages are made up of grants, loans and work-study and are based on calculations the colleges receive from forms such as the FAFSA, the CSS Profile and sometimes their own financial aid forms.
Financial Aid Forms:
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
Every school requires the FAFSA if you are hoping to receive ANY type of aid, including federal student loans such as Stafford and Perkins loans. The FAFSA must be completed by the parent. Deadline is June 30. Parents, make sure to get a PIN for yourself and for the student. If you are planning on requesting any type of financial aid (including loans) for each year the student attends the college, you must complete a FAFSA form for each of those years. So, be sure to keep the usernames and PINs!!
CSS Profile (College Scholarship Service Profile)
The CSS Profile is required by approximately 300 primarily private colleges and universities. Check with the college websites to see if they require this form in order to process financial aid requests. This is a more detailed form than the FAFSA and is submitted in addition to the FAFSA.

The Guidance Office advises students and parents of scholarship opportunities periodically through Naviance notification. Scholarship applications may be available online or hard copies may be picked up in Guidance. If a transcript is required, student must complete a request form and give this directly to our Registrar, Mrs. Hemschoot. If a recommendation letter or form is required from the counselor or a teacher, requests should be made at least one week in advance.
