The RBC Choir has returned from Orlando where they performed onstage in Disney World for the fifth consecutive year. Under the direction of RBC Music Director Mr. Shawn Mack, and accompanied by Mr. David Shirley (RBC '10), the choir performed a selection from one of the most critically acclaimed operetta scores, Les Miserables. In addition to performing on the Disney stage, they attended a special Performing Arts Workshop led by a Disney cast member. There they learned about the Disney audition process, worked on some choreography and sang and recorded a song from the Disney movie Frozen.
Members of the RBC Making Wishes Come True Club traveled to Orlando as well to volunteer at the Give Kids the World Village, an 84-acre, nonprofit “storybook” resort which provides children with life-threatening illnesses and their families with weeklong, cost-free vacations. Together the students performed 250 volunteer hours, covering seven shifts over four days. They served and cleaned up after breakfast, dressed in costume to walk in the parade, and assisted in activities such as pony rides, game nights and running the carousel.
