Room 7: Uniquely RBC
“Room 7” is not simply a moniker used to specify a classroom. Room 7 is a place that represents opportunity, support, challenge and sometimes, the hope a student needs. Room 7 is at its most basic level, a place where students go when they need extra assistance with their classes. There is nothing basic, however, about the kinds of assistance offered there.
Room 7 is an 8 station computer classroom that offers students of all levels a judgment free environment providing guidance, support and educational assistance. Students are encouraged to use Room 7 during their lunch periods. The Room 7 focus has evolved from homework help and test prep to strengthening core learning skills, such as calculator free math, fractions, decimals, crafting introductory paragraphs and formulating thesis statements. We have moved from remediation to prevention and enhancement.
Every Wednesday during all lunch periods, the History and English departments will collaborate to create core skill strengthening lessons which will focus on a new area each week reflecting the needs of both departments. Similarly, the Math and Science departments will collaborate for Friday core strengthening skills. The lessons for each week will be available via the website and flyers posted throughout the school.
Room 7 is unique to Red Bank Catholic. Its mission reflects the school’s mission ‘to fully engage the hearts, minds and souls of our students.’ Room 7 focuses on doing that one student at a time each in their own way.
