Guidance

The Red Bank Catholic Guidance Department focuses on the individual student. Guidance staff provides support and encouragement for students as they learn to adjust to new situations and face both academic and personal challenges. With support, students learn more about their interests and abilities and are encouraged to explore personal, educational and career choices. The overall goal is to help students to recognize their own potential and teach them to use the resources available to develop and put into action a personal plan to reach their goals.

The Guidance Department utilizes Naviance Family Connection which provides an abundance of resources for our students and their families including goal setting, self-discovery, college research tools, career exploration and individual learning plans. We have developed and put into place processes and programs to help students navigate each of their years at RBC as smoothly as possible.

We encourage and support freshmen through the transition to high school through our Leadership Program and with our Teacher Advisors who work closely with freshmen and our professional Guidance Counselors. In the sophomore year, we reinforce present and future academic success. As juniors, students take the PSAT for a second time to solidify their preparation for the SAT. Counselors meet with the individual student and his or her parents to explain and promote the college search and application process. In the senior year, the focus is on the college application process, and to emphasize the importance of proceeding in a timely and efficient manner.

Additionally, the Academic Development Program and a specialized professional staff are available to assist students who have specific needs.
