RBC alumna Kimberly Kelly Winberg (RBC '10) came back to her alma mater last week to speak to Mrs. Smart’s Fashion Marketing class about her own professional journey in the fashion world. She currently works in wholesale, selling brands to various stores.
Kim explained how her successful career started as a result of working part time in local retail stores. When she was fifteen and a student at RBC, she started working at Wisteria, a high-end boutique in town. Despite her young age, Kim so impressed the manager during her interview by presenting her with a resume that she hired her. Mrs. Smart’s Fashion Marketing class will be creating their own resumes in the near future and the students were inspired to know they could have the same opportunity.
Kim attended LIM College in Manhattan, which educates students for success in the global business of fashion. She graduated with internship experience with the finest fashion brands in Manhattan, including Bergdorf Goodman, Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent. After college, Kim worked for brands such as Alexander McQueen, Michael Kors Collection, and Hermes and was able to obtain a wide range of skill sets that enable her to be successful in the fashion industry.
Kim shared her insights about skills and areas of knowledge that will help the students become successful in the fashion industry. She currently lives in London where she continues her career in fashion.
