It was a great day for alumni on campus Saturday as we welcomed back RBC basketball players for the First Annual RBC Basketball Alumni Game in the morning, then hosted the RBC-CBA Founders Cup game later in the day. Casey basketball players from years 1972 to 2010 got together to play in the Eck Center Gym, then enjoyed a post game lunch reception. That afternoon the gym was filled to capacity as the RBC basketball team played an exciting game against CBA.
As part of the Founders Cup celebration, and to mark the first time in over 30 years RBC hosted CBA in a regular season game, we honored our 1,000 point scorers at halftime. Three of those players were able to be there to join the celebration. Eddie Hahn ('16) played four years on Varsity Basketball scoring a total of 1,083 points. He was also a quarterback for RBC before attending University of Connecticut where is a linebacker for the Huskies. Kris Tardio ('96) RBC’s all–time men’s basketball leading scorer with 1,597 points, helped lead the 1994 team capture the B North Conference Championship Title along with making 1st Team All Shore and 2nd Team All State. Tardio went on to score 1,726 points at St. Anselm in New Hampshire, where he was the Northeast 10 Freshman of the Year in 1997. Bob Scrabis ('85) was First Team All-Shore his senior year at RBC. He went on to play all four years at Princeton University. He was team captain his senior year and Ivy League Player of the Year. Bob was also inducted into the Red Bank Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017.
