Devlin Stark a Semifinalist at National Shakespeare Competition
Posted 05/01/2018 12:22PM

Congratulations to senior Devlin Stark who placed as a semifinalist at the 35th Annual National Shakespeare Competition on William Shakespeare's birthday while competing against 55 students from around the U.S. on stage at the Mitzi Newhouse Theater in Lincoln Center as the culmination of a year-long competition hosted by the English-Speaking Union (ESU). Devlin advanced to the national competition after being the second consecutive Red Bank Catholic student to take first place at the county level, where high school students nationwide read, analyze, perform and recite Shakespearean monologues and sonnets. Devlin shared her feelings before heading to the competition, saying, “For me, Shakespeare means speaking universal truths about human nature in words dripping with honesty and eloquence. I am just thrilled to spend time with students and artists who love Shakespeare while in the greatest city in the world.” Devlin will be heading to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts to study drama.
