Beginning September 27th, St. James and RBC will partner to offer a "Creative Movement" class to the St. James pre-school and kindergarten classes. Each Wednesday throughout the school year, the St. James students will walk over to the RBC Fine and Performing Arts Building to take the class in the high school's dance studio. RBC seniors will assist in teaching the class as an internship.
The 30-minute class is designed to help children develop motor coordination, increase spatial and rhythmic awareness, and to provide a positive learning experience. The program includes creative moving taught through rhyme, games, musical storytelling, props, and development of basic concepts like rhythm, directionality, perception, and memory.
RBC Performing Arts Director Mrs. Bascom is excited to begin the program and explains, "Creative Movement is an opportunity for all children, regardless of age or developmental stage, to interact with each other, to release energy. And best of all, it's FUN!"
