Four RBC students were honored yesterday at the Destination Athlete banquet hosted by Rider University. Seniors Christopher Quindes, and Nick Scaramuzzino, junior Ryan Golden, and sophomore Cristian Quindes were nominated by their teacher or guidance counselor for the award, which recognizes high school student-athletes who exemplify not only athletic prowess, but strong academics, leadership and character as well.
Seniors Christopher and Nick received the "Complete Athlete" scholarship, and Ryan and Cristian received awards as "Rising Stars." To qualify as a “Complete Athlete,” nominees must be high school seniors who in addition to being athletes, “respect others and embody positive change mentally and physically, both on and off thefield.” “Rising Stars” are underclassmen who are “on the right path to becoming Complete Athletes,” and “make good decisions in the classroom, on the field and in their communities.”
Christopher Quindes was also randomly chosen to win an additional $2,600 scholarship at the end of the event. Honorees were recognized by organization founders Doug Dickison and former NFL player Lonnie Allgood, who was quite familiar with the Casey legacy of producing all-around athletes and scholars.
