Nicolette DiPrisco is Gymnastics State Floor and All-Around Champion
Posted 11/16/2016 12:29PM

Coming off a win at the NJSIAA team championships on Thursday, Red Bank Catholic junior Nicolette DiPrisco was feeling confident coming into the NJSIAA individual championships.

The standout junior performed her way to a state floor title with a 9.725, and went on to earn the all-around title with a 38.6 on Saturday at Montgomery High School.

“I am so excited it’s crazy. It is just a great way to end the season,” DiPrisco said. “I felt really confident coming here after winning team states on Thursday and I have been hitting my routines a lot in practice, so I knew I just had to do the same thing here.”

Some of DiPrisco’s winning moves in her floor routine included a double pike and a front full front pike. DiPrisco also tied the floor meet record at the Shore Conference Championships with a 9.775.

“It’s crazy it is such a great experience to come out here and get a floor title, I think floor is definitely one of my strongest events, I really like to perform in front of everyone,” DiPrisco said.

DiPrisco’s other performances included third place finishes on beam (9.65) and bars (9.575), as well as a sixth place finish on vault (9.65).

“I love it, it is just great to be able to come here in my junior year and do so well today, I am definitely happy with my performances.”

“Nicolette is one of those kids that is irreplaceable when she leaves,” Red Bank Catholic coach Ronanne DeRosa said after the team win on Thursday. “She is a special gymnast and is really solid. She brings a lot to this team.”

Red Bank Catholic teammate Ally Cucich tied for second on floor with a 9.6 alongside Howell’s Monica Servidio, to finish third all-around (38.275) behind Servidio.

“Ally is always rock solid. I maybe sometimes don’t mention it as much because we expect so much of her,” DeRosa said on Thursday. “She is the kid you always want to put up last because you can really count on her.”

Bishop Ahr’s Ariyana Agarwala placed fourth all-around with a 38.2. The sophomore, who tied for the bars title as a freshman at last season’s individual championships, tied for third on beam (9.65). Marlboro junior Melissa Astaritarounded out the top five all-around (38.175). The junior, who captured the vault state title last season, had a second place finish on bars (9.6).

Colts Neck’s Charlotte Haaf and Bishop Ahr’s Skylar Davisson tied for fourth on floor (9.5), while J.P. Stevens’ Shannon Gregory finished sixth (9.475). Gregory also finished sixth in the all-around.
